To assist the public during this time of social distancing, the Shelton Police Department Records Division is accepting online requests . Accident Reports can be obtained online at CrashLogic. Other reports can be requested by email at records@sheltonpolice.org. Please send at least one name of person related to the incident, incident location, incident date and approximate incident time. This email address will be monitored during normal business hours. Accident reports can take up to 10 business days before being available.
Records Division is open Monday-Friday 9:00-3:00. Most reports are available three working days after the incident. Please call ahead to check on the status of your report. Reports where there is an arrest or an arrest pending, will not be available from the police department until all charges are adjudicated in court. For victims of crime, copies of incident reports may be available through the victim's advocate at the court. For persons arrested, copies of incident reports are available are available for your attorney or from the Public Defender's Office (depending on who is representing the arrestee). The cost of reports is $0.50 a page. All Accident Reports are $2.50 each.
If you are not available to pick up your report, call during normal Records Division hours and we will leave your report in the Communications Center. These reports can be picked up twenty four hours a day, but you must bring exact change. You may also send us a self addressed stamped envelope and a check or money order for the exact amount of your report. WE DO NOT FAX REPORTS.
