Welcome to the City of Shelton web site. It is our goal to provide you with important information about the City of Shelton. We want to make it easier for you to live, work, visit and do business in Shelton.
Located on the Housatonic River and Naugatuck Valley, the City of Shelton is recognized as a premier residential and business community. In a recent 2016 Zippia Report, Shelton was ranked first as “a most successful city” among all the cities in Connecticut.
I have had the privilege to serve the residents of the City of Shelton for the last twenty-six years as its Mayor. During these past twenty-six years, I have focused my energy and commitment to improving the quality of life for the residents of Shelton. Shelton has made great economic strides. My administration prides itself on fiscal responsibility in order to maintain a stable and steady tax base. The City has had essentially no tax increases in the past eight years. As a result, both residents and businesses can rely on a consistent and stable tax rate. Retail, corporate offices, industrial, and research and development firms continue to locate in Shelton providing a benchmark for economic development that has received statewide recognition.
While keeping taxes low, we have been able to provide Shelton residents with preservation and conservation of open space, a comfortable lifestyle with many opportunities for recreation, social activities, and comfortable places to live, raise a family and work.
