Only Shelton Residents may participate in the Household Hazardous Waste Day Collection which is FREE of charge with acceptable form of Identification.
See Below for a List of Items that should be saved for disposal at the Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
Used Motor Oil and Antifreeze generated by individuals performing
work on their own vehicles during the year, may be taken to-
Shelton DPW/Highways & Bridges Department 41 Myrtle Street,
Monday - Friday 7:00 am - 2:00 pm, 203-924-9277.
*How can I Safely Transport These Hazardous Materials?
- Leave material in original containers.
- Tighten caps and lids.
- Sort and pack separately: paint, pesticides and household cleaners.
- Pack containers in study upright boxes and pad with newspaper.
- NEVER MIX CHEMICALS.
- Pack your car and drive directly to the collection site.
- NEVER SMOKE while handling hazardous material.
