CITY OF SHELTON COVID-19 RESPONSE

In accordance with taking precautions and preparedness efforts to protect all residents, businesses, visitors, employees and first responders from the COVID-19 pandemic, commonly known as the Coronavirus and in conjunction with the Governor’s Executive Orders, the City of Shelton will close the following effective Monday, March 23, 2020 until further notice:

Shelton Libraries (Plumb Library & Huntington Branch), Shelton Community Center, Shelton Senior Center, Registrar of Voters Office, Youth Service Bureau, Richard O. Belden Cultural Center

City Hall will be closed with the exception of the Town Clerk’s Office and the Mayor’s office.   These offices will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday – Friday, and will be open for business by appointment only. Individuals needing access to the Town Clerk’s Office should call 203-924-1555, Extension 1503 and for the Mayor’s office, Extension 1504 to make arrangements to conduct their business by appointment only.

All City parks, playgrounds and trails remain open.

Public Works, emergency services, police, fire and ambulance services are essential services and will remain open and available. Emergency services will continue to respond to 9-1-1 and calls for service using enhanced procedures to keep our first responders and community members safe.

The Police Department will continue to take reports over the telephone for minor issues or incidents which would not require an officer to visit a home or business.

The City will be monitoring the current situation on a daily basis and will make adjustments as necessary. The City will provide updates on the virus and our preparation efforts as it relates to our community on our city website at www.cityofshelton.org.
