8/8/020 - Since Tropical Storm Isaias hit on Tuesday, United Illuminating and City personnel have been working on de-energizing and clearing roads. Due to the extensive damage caused by the storm, the level of repairs are significant. As of 8/6/20, repairs and restoration started in the City. U.I. has informed us that the majority of residents will be restored by Saturday night. At the height of the event, approx. 12,000 city businesses and residents were without power. As of 9 AM today, the number restored is approx. 9,200. Please go to www.uinet.com and click Outages to look at the changes of outage numbers for Shelton and the region. As a reminder, cable and phone lines are separate from U.I. and should be contacted by the resident. For updates, please check back on our website.

UPDATE:  Effective Wednesday, July 1, 2020, the Shelton High School track will be open to residents for running and walking, 7 days a week, from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and will reopen 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., weather permitting.  This schedule is subject to change.  Those attending must show proof of residency.  Up to 40 people will be allowed on the track at one time.  No pets, equipment, food or any drink, except water, will be allowed.  The turf field will not be available.  All rules concerning track usage must be followed.  For weather, questions or updates, please call the Information Line at (203) 331-4120.  For further information, please contact the Parks & Recreation Department at (203) 925-8422.
