About Registrar of Voters
The Registrar’s Office records and processes all voter registration records for the City of Shelton. We organize, staff and direct the entire election process for all referendums, primaries and elections. The office also conducts voter registration sessions throughout the year and performs a yearly canvass of Shelton voters to keep voting records accurate and current.

Voter Registration
To Register to Vote in Connecticut you must:
- be a United States citizen
- be a Resident of a Shelton
- be at least 17 years old (must turn 18 before November 6, 2011)
- have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a felony and had your voting rights restored by Registrar

ABSENTEE BALLOTS DEADLINE TO ISSUE:
Absentee ballots may not be issued on election day, except presidential or overseas ballots and except electors who suddenly become ill within six days immediately preceding the close of the polls at the election or who are patients in a hospital within such six-day period, may apply for and be issued an absentee ballot up to the close of the polls. (Secs. 9-140(h) and 9-150c)
