Office Location: City Hall- 3rd Floor Room 303 Updates Conservation & Development Plan Update Advisory Committee Plan Building Zone Map About Planning and Zoning The Planning and Zoning Department has many duties and responsibilities. During the course of any given day, the Department provides administrative, general planning, permitting and zoning enforcement to its citizens and general public. The Department currently employees a full time Administrator, Assistant Administrator/Zoning Enforcement Officer, Zoning Enforcement Officer and part-time Field Inspector jointly used with the Inlands Wetlands Department. The Administrator/Assistant Administrator are responsible for processing and recording all zoning and planning applications. This also includes collecting, documenting and reporting of all fees to the Finance Office and certain fees to the State DEP. Other duties include the preparation of meeting agendas, legal notices for pending zone changes and special exceptions applications and decisions of Commission action, processing of site development bonds and general assistance to other departments, boards and other groups. Quarterly and Annual Reports are also prepared and distributed to all City departments and boards. The Zoning Enforcement Officer is responsible for the enforcement of the local zoning regulations, sediment and erosion control regulations and Coastal Area Management Program. Daily duties include the reviewing of house additions, pools, new dwellings, sheds, etc. and the issuance of zoning permits authorizing the work. Attendance at monthly Commission meetings is required to report on zoning permits and violation notices. The Planning and Zoning Commission conducts their regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. in Room 303. Special meetings are conducted on an as needed basis, usually on the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00 P.M.
